Steve Yip Nominated for Spotlight Award

Steve Yip, a finance analyst in the Department was recently nominated by Eleanor Fiege, human resources liaison and  Research Committee Coordinator, for a Department of Surgery Spotlight Award:

"A few weeks ago (April 2014) I went to scan a document in our community copy room U-364 and my key did not work. After several attempts (and some WD40) I contacted Facilities Management urgently who told me that they had changed the locks and we were no longer allowed to use that room. This created a bit of scrambling as many of us in Surgery use that room on a daily basis. I spoke with Steve Yip and he and I tried to come up with solutions given that we were given a 1 week reprieve to vacate U-364. He took the ball and ran with it facilitated the move downstairs to U-147 arranged for the scanner/copier to be re-networked and took care of other logistical matters for which I didn't have time/patience. I'm sure Steve didn't have time for it either but he took it upon himself to see this through and ensure that everything went seamlessly. Thank you Steve for making a bad situation better and for making sure that no detail was left to chance."
